Falling in Love with Philosophy

Episode 103 of The Path to Authenticity features my conversation with feminist philosopher Heather Stewart, a doctoral student at the University of Western Ontario. Heather focuses primarily on bioethics, feminist philosophy, social and political philosophy, and queer theory. We talk about inequities in the American healthcare system and the inherently problematic nature health insurance. We also touch on misogyny the workplace and the ways powerful women, who challenge patriarchal structure in politics and elsewhere, tend to be labeled. Thank you for listening. Enjoy. -tg

Heather earned an MA in Philosophy at the University of Colorado, and BA degrees in Biology and Philosophy from the University of Louisville. She is currently involved in a research project that aims to improve clinical experiences for trans and gender non-conforming patients in medical settings, as well as a project that studies microaggressions within the context of clinical medicine. She is also interested in the way philosophy can contribute to larger social justice projects and to improving the lived experiences of vulnerable populations.
